Gallet is the world’s oldest watch and clock-making house with history dating back to Humbertus Gallet, a clock maker who became a citizen of Geneva in 1466.
The clamshell case was patented in 1936 by Gallet themselves and served as the first waterproof case to primarily house chronograph calibres.
It sparked a revolution of waterproof watches that was taken up by everybody from Breitling to Patek Phillipe.
Gallet’s original design featured these exact specifications, but behind the gorgeous dial, the case-back is a true masterpiece.
There are 4 screws that seal the two-piece case together, preventing any entry of the elements. These models were made for the adventurer as well as the professional.
Used for everything from artillery timing to sports and racing, these watches are versatile and rugged and have no shortage of heft to their build quality.

This amazing watch, original in any its part, is presented with a wonderful patina of time that certainly makes it impressive and elegant.
