ANALYSE

Since 1931, the Oyster Perpetual-the first waterproof, self-winding wristwatch produced by Rolex-hasn’t changed much. Even today, it remains one of the cornerstones of the Maison’s success, being an elegant and sporty watch equipped with all the technical features for everyday wear with great versatility. The date complication at 3 o’clock was introduced on this model in 1962 and was in production until approximately 1977. This practical detail also gave the dial a fresh look, making it one of the most iconic watches ever.

This full-gold variant with the rare “radial” dial makes the “Date” even more special.

Against the blue sunburst background of the dial, the long, threadlike minute markers, oversized compared to the more classic configuration, appear to run from the outside in. They are positioned between the applied hour markers, which are shaped like sharp, blunt arrows. The markers are accompanied by small dots of luminescent paste. The baton-shaped hands house tritium, which has taken on a warm hazel color.

The unpolished case retains its iconic shape and instantly recognizable design thanks to its three sections, which, when combined, create clean and soft yet robust and solid profiles. The smooth bezel allows for the masterfully crafted radial composition of the dial layout.

This timeless masterpiece retains its incredible original Oyster bracelet, complete with the original logo clasp.

The case houses the self-winding Rolex caliber 1570. Created in 1965 based on the 1530 movement, it has a bidirectional rotor, 26 jewels, and a speed of 19,800 A/h.
