ANALYSE

The history of Universal Geneve is rich with diverse models. It was a brand that aimed to appeal to every type of customer in its production processes. The complicated watches of the 1940s and 1950s are highly prized by collectors, but there is a trend to re-evaluate the latest production, that of the 1970s and 1980s.
This watch with its fancy flower-shaped case represents the high level and variety of UG’s production still enjoyed in the 1970s.

The dial is a beautiful and intense “ultramarine” blue with a sunburst finish. Its iridescent surface reveals the narrow baton indexes that indicate the hours. At 12 o’clock is the rounded “U” logo and the Universa Geneve signature. The hour and minute hands are shaped like narrow pencils and stand out from the background with their silvery color.

The case is a steel sculpture with a contoured and wavy upper section, reminiscent of the structure of a flower. It is composed of soft passages of flowing lines that rise and fall, playing with the light in an unexpected and surprising way. This visual effect is further accentuated by the brushed and polished steel. Thanks to its internal caliber, this case is truly thin, creating a concentration of elegance.

On the reverse, the snap-on case back houses the Universal Geneve manufacture caliber 1-42. It is a beautiful ultra-thin time-only movement produced since 1975. It is 19.8mm wide and only 2.45mm thin; it has 17 jewels, runs at 21,600 A/h and has a power reserve of 43 hours.
