ANALISI

Entering the world of Patek Philippe means venturing into boundless territory of elegance and beauty. From whatever perspective you look at the horizon, PP has succeeded like no other Swiss Maison in offering not just watches, but precious jewels of the highest possible quality in terms of micromechanics. Among the production of the 1940s and 1950s, it is possible to find watches of immense craftsmanship, exquisite design, and cutting-edge technology, rarely found elsewhere in the world.

This reference 1570 with a curved case in solid 18K rose gold embodies all these concepts and epitomizes them.

The narrow and elongated rectangular dial is perfectly balanced in its clean composition: against a matte gold background stand the Arabic numerals and slender arrow-shaped applied hour markers. The entire graphic is embossed, commonly referred to as indelible. The Patek Philippe signature occupies the upper part of the dial, while a large seconds subdial occupies the lower part. The hands are rose gold and shaped like narrow pencils.

The 18K rose gold case is a sculpture. It is conceived on two levels: the lower one, with a tapered profile, resembles a cushion, upon which a superstructure rests, supported by “fake” lugs, which appear to hold the curved crystal in place. It is an aesthetic concept that fuses design and structural architecture. Viewed in profile, the thick, convex crystal occupies almost half the entire thickness of the watch, allowing for a play of light, refractions, and transparency, creating a unique sensory experience. The case back, also gently curved, bears the gold standards, the Patek Philippe signature, and the Geneva key stamp with the number of casemaker Fritz Baumgartner (No. 2), who was active from 1934 until March 19.

Inside this sculptural case is the Patek Philippe 9-90 movement. Produced from 1934 to 1967, this movement has a pseudo-rectangular shape, measures 18mm x 25.6mm, and runs at 19,800 A/h. It is highly finished with wide, clean Côtes de Genève lines, features a beautiful swan-neck micro-adjustment, and displays positional and temperature adjustments. Obsessive attention to detail, both aesthetically and in terms of its regulation.
