ANALYSIS
This elegant watch is an excellent example of mechanical miniaturization at the service of the highest and most refined design of the 40s.
The dial has a brushed white background; on it are applied gold arrowhead indexes except at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock, where Arabic numerals with a simple and elegant profile have been made. The center of the dial at 12 o’clock is the Cartier signature; at the bottom is the Swiss writing. The hands are also yellow gold and have a sword shape.
The 13.4mm circular case in 18K yellow gold is delightfully finished with curved lugs, following the trend of the cylindrical case body. On the outer case back is the crown, which is therefore hidden so as not to interrupt the aesthetic cleanliness of the profile.
This watch is equipped with its original strap and the deployant in solid 18K yellow gold of first assembly.
The manual winding movement inside this wonderful case is the beautiful Jager Le-Coultre 426-2, a 16 jewel caliber joined by a single finely worked bridge and adjusted in 3 positions. The OYP hallmark on the balance bridge tells us that this watch was intended for the US market.
