This amazing and rare bracelet with tilting watch produced by Gucci-Edox is an example of the fusion of great Italian design with sophisticated Swiss watchmaking technique.
The 925 silver bracelet is a sculpture. It is structured in two semi-circular pieces that converge at the top to encircle the watch case with two feline head-shaped protomes. The entire upper surface is enhanced by the very refined emerald green enamel with a pseudo-geometric design. The two tiger heads are the crown of this amazing jewel. They represent the symbol of the Greek god Dionysus, who according to ancient classical mythology, crossed the Tigris River of Mesopotamia on the back of a tiger sent by his father Zeus (a curious detail: this double tiger head decorative element is still used today by Gucci on its premium production of bags named, precisely, “Dionysus”). These two miniaturized and meticulously sculpted heads connect in parallel around the watch with a blinding effect on the wrist. Wearability is guaranteed by a 33.4mm composition on the upper part of the wrist. At the bottom, the tapered bracelet is connected at its ends with an ingenious “hammer” clasp patented in Italy and signed by Gucci. The creation of this fantastic bracelet is probably attributable to the Master silversmith Roberto Ramponelli, active in Milan between 1948 and 1970 (registered with the Italian silversmiths’ hallmark n°356). Ramponelli, together with the Florentine silversmith Falcai & Michelassi, was one of the most important creators of silver and enamel bracelets for Gucci between the 1960s and 1970s.
The watch on the top signed Edox is another excellence. It is structured in a cylindrical case in 800 silver hinged on the sides to the bracelet and is enabled to rotate on its axis. This solution allows the watch to swing freely and is truly intriguing because it uses the lightest 800 silver alloy to be able to swing more comfortably while supporting the weight of the caliber inside. The dial of the watch has a white background and is made with embossed indexes flanked by Tritium dots. The hands are alpha-shaped and are also filled with luminescent paste. The glass is treated on the entire edge to highlight the dots to facilitate immediate reading of the time.
This fantastic watch is powered by the ETA 2360 caliber with manual winding and direct central seconds; it is embellished with a copper finish and a metal bezel on the escapement wheel axle.
