ANALYSIS
In the late 1960s, the great Japanese Maison introduced one of the thinnest manual winding movements (only 8.7mm thick) that oscillated at 36,000 vibrations per hour and guaranteed incredible performance (certified internally with very rigorous tests) in any position condition. This amazing movement was the 4520A and it is precisely this caliber that animates this amazing watch.
The dial is white with applied gold baton indexes with black insert. The Seiko writing at 12 o’clock and the GS-type logo at 6 o’clock are also applied, giving three-dimensionality to the entire dial. To declare the soul of this exceptional watch is the black pad printing writing Hi-Beat 36000: a speed of the seconds hand that gives the view its truly continuous and fluid movement. No interruptions. The other hands of hours and minutes are gold baton-shaped and with black insert to give immediate speed also to the reading of the time.
The cushion-shaped case in solid 18K yellow gold is incredibly worked on the surface with a pattern of intertwined lines and obtained with a superb hammered finishing technique. On the right side the beautiful logoed crown. On the outer case back there are 6 notches that declare the screw closure to guarantee sufficient waterproofness. At the center of it the beautiful engraving on yellow gold Seiko GS. To finish this masterpiece there is the original golden buckle with logo.
An incredible watch that is a concentration of aesthetic and technical details of the highest Japanese watchmaking manufacturing that makes it one of the greatest masterpieces of Grand Seiko.
