ANALYSIS
When it comes to elegance, Piaget has never been second to none, especially when it comes to ultra-thin gold watches. Its minimal design with its precious elements are immediately recognizable.
When Piaget developed its ultra-thin 9P movement (with its sub-derivatives) in 1957, it was the turning point that brought even more success to the Maison as it was able to dedicate itself almost entirely to the creation of elegant and unmatched luxury watches for thinness.
This Piaget Baignoire “Ogival” reference 99062 is a banner of this successful formula.
The dial is in solid 18Kt yellow gold with soleil finishing and its cleanliness is interrupted only by the Piaget signature at 12 o’clock. The hands are in the shape of a “sword” and are also in gold. Obviously the seconds hand is missing, which should not be in a dress watch.
The case is “ogival” shaped in two pieces: the upper part is worked with a series of sequenced vertical grooves and this play of empty and full spaces makes the surface very vibrant at every inclination of the wrist. The lower part is joined to the upper part by means of four screws, making the profile of the entire case very compact and thin from every view. The only additional decorative element is the beautiful crown with blue cabochon, which stands out on the right side of this essential high-design case.
Inside is the Piaget manufacture calibre 9P1 regulated chronometer, one of the thinnest manual calibres ever made in history at just 2mm thick.
