ANALYSIS
This is a very high design watch and very rare also for its exceptional condition.
The dial is gold with a different surface treatment: the brushing of the lower half of the dial is different from that of the upper half. This produces an incredible “visual split” effect determined by a clouding of one or the other section of the dial upon impact with the light. It seems to observe the horizon through a landscape. An incredible play of contrasts. On the splendid surface there is the small seconds cross that however does not interrupt that visual rhythm. The hours are indicated by the sober applied baton-shaped indexes except at 12 o’clock, where the Arabic numeral application stands out. The hands are golden pencil-shaped and respect the cleanliness and general elegance of the layout.
The solid 18K gold case is untouched, and it is the absolute star of this fantastic watch. The upper part is a single flat and continuous body up to the lugs. The upper and lateral surface of the case seems to transform and takes the shape of those beautiful drop-shaped lugs. The profile of this amazing case is almost crowned by an original cylindrical mineral glass: it stands out clearly and vertically and its external surface is horizontal and parallel to the flat surface of the case. Nothing is left to chance here. The entire design, created by the Genevan master Emile Vichet (key with n.9), is organized and coordinated to restore visual harmony.
Under the case back is the wonderful Vacheron Constantin 1001 hand-wound caliber with 18 jewels and oscillating at 18,000 vibrations/h.
A very elegant watch, original in all its parts and incredibly rare.
