ANALYSIS
A spectacular and very rare watch signed by one of the world’s leading jewelers. In all its splendor, this watch has many features that make it a special and unique object.
The brushed dial with gold background has the characteristic of having the minute markers made in depression on the surface and enhanced by the black color manually applied with the tip of the brush.
An unexpected and surprising workmanship, which makes the entire circular dial structure very vibrant in the play of reflection with light. In the center at 12 o’clock is the beautiful and prestigious Van Cleef & Arpels signature. The hands are essential and elegant with their pencil shape and tempered in an intense blue.
The other point of excellence of this extraordinary 3-hands watch is the “UFO” / “Flying Saucer” shaped case of French production. It is structured in three pieces and has a large bezel characterized by rectangular engravings corresponding to the hour indication except at the quarters, where the very elegant Roman numerals are made. This graphic and constructive structure is also made on the back of the case, with the beautiful case back in the center. All around, the carrure is made with a sculptural vertical segmentation that recalls that of coins. A truly unique design solution, which makes this case a masterpiece.
Inside there is the very solid AS1240 manual winding movement with direct seconds in the center and decorated on the surface with Cote de Geneve.
This fantastic example signed Van Cleef & Arpels also has its original and signed black leather strap, which ends with an 18K rose gold pin buckle with a beautiful pseudo-trapezoidal shape. It is joined to the strap via a through screw: a very refined technical solution that embellishes and completes this masterpiece even more.
